Dear Covenant Family,
As we close out another week of work and service, we give thanks to the Lord for good rains. We may not be farmers or firemen, but rain is a blessing all the same. At the start of a new week, we begin by meeting together before the Lord at His appointment. This Lord’s Day in adult Sunday school, Mark Sluder will continue his study of Spurgeon’s amazing sermons on prayer. Note the Puritan Thomas Watson commenting on the power of prayer from Acts 12:5 [Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.]: “The angel fetched Peter out of prison, but it was prayer that fetched the angel.” There are also classes for children.
In worship we will have the special pleasure of having another one of our own, Rev. Mark Soud, in the pulpit. He and his family are soon headed for California for Mark to take up the work of Associate Pastor at Covenant OPC in San Jose. He will be preaching on “Saving and Training Grace” from Titus 2:11-14.
There will be no 5:00 p.m. service since we will be having our monthly pot luck lunch in the fellowship hall after the morning service. If you are able, please bring a main dish and a side dish to share. We will have a cake in honor of Felix and Kathy as they head for Bristol, Virginia, in two weeks.
