Our Pastor - Eric Watkins

I grew up in a non-Christian, military home in North Carolina and went to church very rarely.  I came to Christ at age 21 while following the Grateful Dead cross country.  Someone gave me a Bible to read, and in the pages of scripture, I met the Lord Jesus, who convicted me of my sins, and comforted me with his gospel. This began the hard trail of learning how to read and live what the Bible teaches.

After serving as a youth pastor and worship leader in an Evangelical church, I went to Bible college.  I have two undergraduate degrees, one of which is in Biblical Studies from Southeastern Bible College.  I became curious about the Reformed faith in Bible college, but really fell in love with it while in seminary, where I was taught how the covenant shapes every aspect of Christian life.It was here that I was introduced to the OPC.  I earned my Master of Divinity (with a counseling minor) from Westminster Theological Seminary in California and a ThM degree in church history from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. I have been a minister in the OPC for eight years, and hope to be the pastor of CPC for quite a while!

God has given me a wonderful wife, Heather. We have been married for over twelve years.  We have two small children, Kirra Ruth and Carl Vos.  My past-times are reading, surfing, and playing guitar; but above all these, I enjoy being with my family.
